I hope karly won't mind because he normally does this but I thought I'd post this article from the BN which I've just seen.

STUART Holden’s long-awaitedWanderers comeback ended in heartache last night when he was forced off just 23 minutes into the Under-21s clash with Everton at the Reebok Stadium.
Holden was making his first appearance of the season after seven months out with a cruciate ligament injury to his right knee playing for the USA in last summer’s Gold Cup.
And, worryingly for the 28-year-old, he was left clutching the back of that same knee he injured on international duty twice before finally admitting defeat in his bid to get through a first match of the season, collapsing with no-one near him just before he was replaced.
The positive aspect for both player and Wanderers manager Dougie Freedman is the fact Holden was able to jog off and did not need assistance but the sight of his number eight shirt pulled up over his head illustrated his obvious devastation.
His last senior appearance for Wanderers came as a substitute at the back end of last season when he came off the bench for the last minute of the away game at Cardiff City on April 27 – more than 10 months ago.
With his contract up in the summer and a dream to fight back into Jurgen Klinsmann’s US squad for the World Cup, which starts in Brazil in 100 days’ time, it is another setback for the unlucky American who has now fought back from three serious knee injuries in as many years.
It is a succession of cruel luck that has seen Holden make just five Wanderers appearances in those three years since the first injury suffered after an X-rated tackle from Manchester United defender Jonny Evans at Old Trafford in March 2011.
But yesterday he hoped that nightmare spell was coming to an end.

On his official Twitter account before the game, Holden said: “Ahhhh butterflies, not had those in a while! A lot of hardwork has gone into this and ready for next step! Thx for all the support.”
Everyone at Wanderers will hope this setback is not a serious one.
Whites assistant manager Lennie Lawrence will, like Freedman, certainly be praying for good news after relishing the chance to see Holden in action again last night.
Speaking ahead of the Under-21s clash, Lawrence said: “He’s (Holden) been looking good in training and, hopefully, it will be a step in his rehabilitation.
“It will be a great experience for the youngsters, who don’t often have the chance to be alongside a senior player of his calibre.”
Holden is likely to be assessed by the medical team at Euxton today.

Anything coming out from the club about the medical assessment?
Hope there's some positive news.

Club fear USA international Stuart Holden may have damaged knee again

Wanderers fear that Stuart Holden may have suffered another cruciate ligament tear in his knee just 23 minutes into his comeback for the club last night.

The American will undergo a scan on his right knee before heading back to the US to meet with the surgeon who operated on him last summer.

Holden tore his anterior cruciate ligament playing for the US in the Gold Cup on July 29 and was ruled out for several months.

He played his first game at the Reebok last night for the Under-21s against Everton but was forced off the field prematurely with discomfort in his knee.

Wanderers say the player will now be assessed on “the resurfacing of last summer’s injury,” which seems to indicate concern that he has once again damaged ligaments in his knee.

Holden has been beset by injury problems in the last three years, starting just one game for Bolton and making four substitute appearances since March 2011 when a tackle from Manchester United defender Jonny Evans left him with serious knee damage, which later required a second bout of surgery on his left knee.

He had a spell on loan with Sheffield Wednesday last season but after injuring his right knee playing for his country, there are now serious concerns over whether he will now need a second operation.

Are you really gutted though. Did it really have any impact on your day?

I suspect you have lied about your reaction here.

I was initially "quite disappointed" by this news.

This then gradually eased over a period of about twenty minutes, leaving me in a state of "minor consternation" followed by a brief period of "mild frustration."

I am now completely recovered.

Holden has got to be the worst signing in our history, game percentage wise.

Quite possibly, he has only played in 30 games for us since 2010!

I suspect Sean Davis was the worst - he was on something like £45k per week and played 3 games in 3 seasons.

The lad was injured  by Johnny, the gay boy, initially, but subsequently returned back from re hab too early, twice !!When the initial serious injury was incorrectly diagnosed or more importantly not managed properly during his rehab,he broke down almost as soon as he came back. This last episode typifies his treatment and the so called ! expertise ! of our back room staff and on going treatment centres. He is now for sure never going to play for us or any one else again, thank you Owen and Doug . He was a very very good player before that first injury, him Mavies and Chungy playing together was a joy. Good luck Stu lad and thanks.

I feel very sorry for Stuart, I appreciate that he's not going to be skint and it's not an earth shattering event in the grand scheme of things but I do feel great sympathy for the man. He's always struck me as a decent guy who really wanted to play for us and was never going to be happy just drawing a wage while he sat on a treatment table or warmed a bench. He seemed to be a fully committed professional, someone a lot of footballers (Yes Tyrone Mears I am looking at you) should emulate for his desire to earn his money and do the best job he can for it.

I really hope that he can recover fully but I don't truly believe he ever will. In fact I wouldn't be surprised if he has to officially retire from the game as a whole once his current contract is up because he simply doesn't seem to me able to strengthen the muscles around the knee enough to play professionally at any level. Looking at the footage and pictures from last night it seems obvious that whatever regime he was on he was unable to compensate for the weakened ligaments in that right knee by adding muscle and if he can't do it after this length of time it's very doubtful he ever will.  Sad

If it is a recurrence of his ACL injury, my disappointment will be surpassed by my amazement.
He's been running around for a month or two. He will surely have had it stress tested. He will have played in numerous practice games. Given his history of problems with it there's no way they would have thrown him into a competitive game without testing the shit out of it in "laboratory conditions" first - and then testing it some more.
ACL is an over-extension/twisting injury and the conditions can be easily replicated - all you need is a lackey to pull and twist his leg although I'd imagine there's some fancy machinery to do that. You certainly don't need to be playing in a competitive match to replicate what might happen to his knee.
If after all the supposedly top quality rehab he's been through he was again thrown in too early, some doctor or other wants shooting.

Just pointing out that your reaction is silly. Why would you care about a bloke you've never met before getting an injury? The bloke in the apartment below mine broke his arm last week - does that spoil your day?

Oh, and for the record, people hang on my every word.

Sadly I think most people on here actually do. Your name is mentioned in most threads and it's fucking boring.
