Just heard on the radio that Tony Benn has died after a long illness.
Really sad in my opinion, as he was one of the last of a dying breed - a politician with true integrity and an understanding of how the world should work.
I was inspired to study Politics at University by hearing him speak in the mid 80's.
If you're interested in that kind of thing, read one of the many authorised biographies on him.
He came from a priveliged background and didn't need to put himself out to help us common folk, but his innate sense of right and a conviction to try and make people's lives better drove him to dedicate his life to the Socialist movement and today's Labour politicians could learn a lot from his attitude.
RIP Tony Benn.
