I remember watching this film with my mum who remembered it being made and rabbited on about the locations, people she knew etc. - a potted history of the town.
Bolton was used as a setting for a few heavy duty "social drama" films in the 60s and 70s (Spring & Port Wine and The Family Way for example) but of course it's more popularly known as the setting for Monty Python's "Dead Parrot" sketch which was filmed in a Bolton pet shop - (referred to as Notlob)

Burnden was featured in 'The love match' starring Arthur Askey. It also featured a brilliant little cameo by Rob Wilton.

I'd forgotten about that tea bar on the embankment, Only time I ever saw the embankment full like that was against City in the cup when we stuffed them.
