If we had 3 more wins under our belts we would be on 68 points, just two points off a play off place going into the final match of the season. The margins are so small I can hardly believe it.

As it stands we will finish in the bottom half (unless we score about 12 on the final day) but a win will see us be the only team in the bottom half without a negative goal difference. We will also be finishing the season a healthy 19 points above the drop zone (approx, depending on results).

This is just about as good as we could have expected in the final third of the season. So, who's happy to give Dougie another go? ANd who is pleased with our recent form?

I'll give him a bit more time at least see out his contract so no pay off is needed. Unless we have the worse start to a season for 100 years.

It's a make or break season for Dougie, we have to start better next season and certainly be in the top ten at halfway. With some movement in and out over the summer and hopefully the likes of Kellet, Vela, Threlked etc making progress we should look for a better season from the outset.

Last season we finished with 68 points and just missed the play-offs by finishing seventh. 71 points may still not be enough to secure a play-off spot this season tbh.

The margins are fine.

It makes the countless results decided by individual errors earlier in the season that much worse.

Happy or not the Doog is here to stay at least through next season.  Surely he has learned something by now and if he only makes half the errors from this season we will be top half by default.  As already pointed out, just a few more wins early in the season and we would be close to that 6th spot as we speak.
It's hard to imagine another start like this year ...so hope springs eternal.
