Rob Hall admits it would break his heart to see his former club Birmingham City relegated.

Wanderers would consign Lee Clark’s side to the drop with victory tomorrow lunchtime at the Reebok.

For Birmingham to survive, they must better Doncaster Rovers’ result at champions Leicester City, or take all three points and hope Millwall or Blackpool trip up elsewhere.

Hall, who spent a successful spell on loan at St Andrew’s last season, had been hoping their fate would have already been decided by the time they travelled for the season finale.

But the youngster says he will put emotions to one side if called upon by Dougie Freedman and target the decisive blow that would kill their survival hopes.

“I look out for them a lot,” said the winger, who played 13 times for the Blues last term before a short spell on loan at Wanderers.

“When I was there I loved it and they looked after me really well.

“I know the situation they are in but obviously I play for Bolton Wanderers now, so I can only do what’s good for them.”

Birmingham have paid dearly for poor home form that has seen them win just twice at St Andrew’s all season.

They have lost their last five games, and 10 of the last 13, to head into the final day as odds-on favourites for the drop.

Hall feels for Blues boss Clark, who tried hard to keep the 20-year-old for longer last term before a hernia operation forced his return to West Ham.

“It’s horrible,” Hall said. “I’ve got a lot of people I love at that club, especially the gaffer who is a really nice fella.

“Obviously they are struggling but I can only really focus on what I can do for this club now.”
