If you want to defend a lead then why not 'crowd' out the midfield and stop anything getting into the penalty area rather than 'invite' their attack to start there?

To my mind going to three centre backs towards the end of the game unsettles the defence - who now takes which man in what situation - and to some extent gets in everybodys way - how many people did we have back for the last goal and STILL they scored.

I just don't get it?

Well I assume they work on it in training if it's something he goes too frequently.

Or at least I would hope so. 

If that is the case the players simply either are unwilling or unable to carry out their "duties"
