Problems are mounting up for Dougie Freedman just two weeks before Wanderers’ pre-season schedule gets underway.

It is understood Marc Tierney – the squad’s only recognised senior left-back – will miss the start of the Championship season after undergoing an operation to remove scar tissue and check out the screws inserted to repair the broken leg that put him on the sidelines in September last year.

To add to Freedman’s misery, the Whites are still no closer to joining the hunt for Middlesbrough striker Lukas Jutkiewicz, which leaves their attacking ranks looking painfully thin with just over a month to go before the big kick-off against Watford.

Marvin Sordell continues to sort out the fine details of his move to Burnley, which leaves only two front men - Jermaine Beckford and Craig Davies – who started a league game last season.

Wanderers face Brondby in a fortnight the first of a three-game tour of Scandinavia - but are not expected to add to their ranks before leaving the country.

Freedman announced his intention to get business done quickly after finishing 14th last term and confirmed deals for Neil Danns, Liam Trotter, Andy Robinson, Liam Feeney and Dorian Dervite before the end of May.

After getting off to a fast start, things have slowed significantly in the last four weeks, with the only new arrival being that of development squad goalkeeper Ross Fitzsimons.

And the lack of new arrivals in familiar problem areas, full-back and up front, are a particular worry to Wanderers fans, who are hoping to build on the improved form shown in the second half of last season and mount a play-off push.

Freedman has trimmed his wage bill significantly in the last 30 months, losing big earners such as Martin Petrov, Kevin Davies, Zat Knight, David Ngog, Tyrone Mears, Chris Eagles, Sam Ricketts and Marcos Alonso.

Sordell should soon add to that list, although sources at Turf Moor believe the deal will not be fully concluded until early next week.

Keith Andrews is another player who has been offered football elsewhere by Huddersfield Town but is currently negotiating his way out of his remaining 12 months at Bolton.

Contract offers have been made to Andre Moritz and Arran Lee-Barrett – although there is no indication at present whether they have been accepted.

DF just hasn't been given enough time to fix our left-back problem!

looks like Ream will be back there then. I suppose we have plenty of centre halves to cover now we have Dervite but Dougie needs to find a left back sharpish. Whats happened with Peltier from Leeds?

Does any Bolton player ever come back from serious injury

a) without at least one further set back, and

b) as good a player as they were before the injury?

No.

And if Tierney comes back a bigger liability than he was, we might as well terminate his contract now.

That's a bit harsh Doffcocker, he's only played a few games before he got injured and don't forget the whole defence were all over the place at the start of last season.

We wont sign a left back.

I want Gartside to tell us EXACTLY why we cannot afford the juke.

Debt or no debt, its peanuts.

We obviously have several trillion quid to invest in fucking schools and other shite but cannot afford a player we REALLY need.

This seasons going to go totally down the pan unless we invest even a small amount of cash in the squad.

Gartside has lied to DF a lot and if I was DF, I wouldn't stand for it, its about time somebody grassed the cunt up to be the corrupt, fat, money grabbing wanker he is.

I have totally lost my rag with my beloved club, OK - bad times at the Min, but im not going to renew until I see the club At least TRYING to make an effort to get out of the mess we are in. Even went as far as lying to DF to make him sell Ngog before telling him he couldn't use the money from the sale.

The club can email me asking me why ive cancelled my Direct Debits for my season ticket, yet refuse to tell the fans where all the fucking moneys gone!

BWFC's board (including Eddie Davies) is a fucking disgrace and should be made to answer to the fans instead of pussyfooting around the issue.

Fuck off Garty.

Well in seasons where we have looked forward to the start and rated ourselves as having a good chance of promotion we have been utter garbage. So, in some twisted way maybe this year WILL BE our year because it looks like its going to start utter garbage already with no strikers and a team full of midfielders! Either that or we are dead certs for relegation!

Difference could be Stu Holden this year, if he can stay fit. One player that can put his foot on the ball rather than hoofing through it!

If Sordell does leave then we are short of strikers and left back......nowt has changed.

I do remain hopeful that more business will be done.  If not then kiss any chance of a playoff run goodbye.

Does this club really want to get back to the Prem?  One promotion will get us millions back and help us with our debt.....on the basis of that alone a 2 or 3 mill investment makes sense.  We need the Juke and/or Mason or somebody like them and a left back.....that should be enough I feel.
