I ask the question because I've just been looking through some football and cricket books from the 30's and 40's all of which were well illustrated with contemporary photographs. Many of these pictures showed the huge crowds that were commonplace in those days, and what took my eye was the fact that everyone, man and boy,was wearing some kind of headgear. Flat caps, trilby's,Homburg's,straw hats, they all had a 'lid' as the Aussies say. So when did we stop wearing hats and caps? I myself still wear one, either a baseball cap or my 'Fred Dibnah', but very few other people do. Do any of you lot wear a Cap/hat on a regular basis,or is it an old man thing?
Where did all the hats go?

The only time I wear a hat is in the winter and that's a bob hat.

These are quite popular with the kids now. No idea why.

I'd get one,but when I leave the house I'd rather people thought I was going to the library or corner shop, and not assume I was about to lead a raid on Pearl Harbour.

My dad used to wear his flat cap everytime he went out and towards the end of my teens until I moved down south - so did I.
The lovely southerners used to take the piss out of my 'Lanky' way of speaking - some still think it is hilarious even though I've lived down here for thirty years or more - so wearing a flat cap down here just wasn't a viable option.
Quite miss my old flat cap.

Rough weather here. Got out one of my trusty flat caps. Sorted.
