Anyone got any good tips for a good nights sleep? I don't normally struggle in this department, but the last couple of months have been rough. I've found a good tip is to go on youtube and put on 8 hours of heavy rain sound effects, this has helped a lot but there must be better solutions. Non alcoholic I might add. And I won't accept 'watch a Brucie DVD' either.
Insomnia.

How about counting sheep?
There are medicinal kinds such as night nurse and nytol you could try?
If you have something on your mind you could do the old trick of writing it down on paper and then leaving it outside of your bedroom.

Very funny Scott! As for counting sheep KP,that might be ok for a Burnley supporter, but I don't fancy it myself. Someone suggested watching ASMR video's on youtube, but I don't know what they are!BoltonTillIDie wrote:Close your eyes.

My GP told me it's about "breaking the cycle", as your insomnia sounds like it's become learnt behaviour by now, given that it's been a couple of months.
Apparently it works like this:
If you get in bed and feel yourself thinking "Here we go again..", you're supposed to get up and go for a mooch about for a bit.
Then get back in bed and try again.
Keep repeating this until you get to the point that you're so knackered, you drop off fairly quickly after getting back in bed.
The worst thing you can do is lie there thinking "Go to sleep....go to sleep" because all you're doing is reaffirming the negative learnt behaviour.
It takes a while (it took me a good week or so) but it does work.
Good luck.

Cheers Bread. The problem started when I spent a few late nights on the laptop. Then, when I couldn't sleep I'd come on here looking for someone to talk bollocks with. Tried early nights, but cos it's still light it just didn't work. Reading helps a bit,as does the rain sound effects, but they only act as a crutch. I'd just love to get into bed, fall asleep, and wake up ready for the day. Will certainly give your method a go.

Blackout blinds in the bedroom and Nytol might help.

He will most certainly recommend a night with Stella.

You are confusing this post with the haemorrhoids thread.

Leave the skin on the banana, you can then have it for breakfast.

Be interested to learn how you came across this,if you'd pardon the phrase. My first port of call would probably have been a mug of Horlicks. Sitting on the side of the bed thinking 'I can't sleep. I'd better shove a banana up my arse' was never really an option. Does it work with oranges?

Only with a segment and make sure you peel it first.
