Gambian striker Modou Barrow will feature as a trialist in Wanderers’ first pre-season friendly against Brondby tonight.
The 21-year-old was spotted by sharp-eyed fans on the club’s website on Tuesday night as the players went through their paces for the first time in Sweden.
Reports from the Bolton camp in Malmo have been encouraging – and it is understood he will play at least 45 minutes against the Danish giants at the Brondby Stadium.
Barrow boasted a prolific scoring record as a teenager in the Swedish lower leagues, hitting 23 goals in 19 starts for Mjolby IF.
He has since moved up the leagues, representing IFK Norrkoping, Varbergs and Östersunds FK – who, according to reports in Sweden, retain his registration.
He scored six goals in nine appearances for the club last season.
Earlier this summer it was claimed two foreign clubs had been tracking his progress and were willing to pay 600,000 Euros – nearly £480,000 – for him.
