Nonces, where are they all coming from?

Ok before we start an emotive subject so we don't want to take things to extremes.

The reason I start this thread is that peadophiles seem now to be constantly in the news - just today 660 arrests have been made including would you believe, doctors, teachers and police.

We've had the on going fall out from Jimmy Saville and the improsonment of Rolf and Stuart Hall.

We've had the Pope even admitting that 1 in 50 of the catholic clergy are paedos.

We even had a high profile pressure group in the 1970's called the Paedophile Information Exchange, lobbying publically to drop the age of sexual consent, and which involved later to become high ranking government ministers.

So where the hell are they all coming from?

Now I get we all are not wired up the same but in the article on the Pope this is stated -

"While the incidence of paedophilia as a psychiatric disorder in the general population is not accurately known, some estimates have put it at less than five percent".

Now the way I read that is that 'others' must rate it at OVER 5%.

I'm assuming this is from experts in the field, not Fred down the local pub - so let us for arguements sake say 5% is an average - that means 1 in 20 people alive are kiddy fiddlers - that can't be right can it, or have I been living in some sort of parallel universe all this time?

What the hell is happening, what can be done to stop it?

Is this just the tip of the iceberg?

I think they've always been there, it's just in sharper focus nowadays because of the 24 hour media / internet world we live in.

It's easy for them to access this type of thing on the "Deep Web" which didn't exist 30 years ago, so back then your average Percey Ponce: The Dandy Nonce couldn't indulge his "passion" like he can now.

And let's not forget that "Childrens' Rights" used to mean that you could only shove them up chimneys six days a week and they got Sundays off - There was no Childline and if a child complained that they'd been interfered with by a grown-up, they'd have got a slap and been told to stop being ridiculous.

The world's changed and it's easier to spot 'em nowadays.

Although looking at stats on wiki - I know but it is reporting actual surveys done - suggest about the same percentage of people (5%) or 1 in 20 are gay or have had gay sex.

Still 1 in 20. The chances are that we all probably know at least one in real life (obviously not about their kiddie fiddling though).

I worked with one in Westhoughton a few years back.

He raped a girl at knifepoint in Tyldesley and told her mate he'd kill them both if they told anybody.

Whilst the police appeals for information were being broadcast on the news on Key 103 over the shopfloor radio and the women on the line were all saying how terrible it was, he was just quietly getting on with his job and agreeing with them.

His Mum saw an e-fit of the attacker on the news and handed him in to the local plod because she'd always had concerns about him.

Cops, Rabbi's, Doctors etc etc. They come from all walks of life and many of them were parents.I don't know if anyone has seen it but they basically entrap men on the internet by posing as underage girls. Some of the perps are seriously spooky.

We also had a teacher at Smithills called Howard Holt who got banged up for being a paedo in the late 80's.gh

He was in charge of the First XI football team and he always got changed with us instead of using the teachers' changing room.
