Bolton boss Dougie Freedman will blood some youngsters against Bury, including Andy Kellett, Chris Lester and Conor Wilkinson.
Midfielder Mark Davies is expected to remain on the sidelines with an ongoing toe injury.
Bury's new recruit James Poole is pushing for a start after coming off the bench on Saturday.
Another recent signing, goalkeeper Shwan Jalal, is likely to retain the number one jersey ahead of Rob Lainton.
MATCH FACTS
Head-to-head
•The away side has won each of the last three League Cup clashes between Bolton and Bury, while the home team has failed to score.
•Bolton have yet to win a League Cup game, or score a goal, on home soil against Bury (D1, L2).
Bolton
•Bolton have only failed to progress beyond the League Cup first round once since the 1989-90 season - in 2000-01, when they were beaten 3-2 on aggregate by Macclesfield Town.
Bury
•Bury won the last League Cup meeting, knocking out then-Premier League Bolton 1-0 in 2002.
•They have made it past the first round in two of the last three seasons.

I predict a 3-1 win for the whites tomorrow - a tricky tie but one we will win IMO.
If we go behind early though it's not going to be the best of atmospheres in the home end.

I disagree with anybody that says this isn't a big match.
Sure, there'll probably be more Bury fans there than Bolton, but that's irrelevant.
If we lose to BURY it just multiplies the hostility by a thousand, especially for the ones that are there to witness Bury fans celebrating, and rest assured they'll celebrate.

If Freedman goes with a lone striker, and 2 holding mids tonight, he deserves dogs abuse from the fans.

I think it will be close as Dougie is sending out some of the youngsters. Hopefully the likes of Kellett and Threlkeld can show their class.

Was that in response to the Nicky Hunt picture?Natasha Whittam wrote:finlaymcdanger wrote:Jesus wept.
It's ironic that having just hosted a vote on the best players under Allardyce (let alone from our glorious trophy-winning years) we are presented with a list like that.
Having Nicky Hunt on it (even though he's a local lad) is mental.
What next? A mural of Tim Ream amongst the greats of our club?

Nicky Hunt would have been a captain fantastic if we hadn't been so quick to get rid.

I've just nipped in town for a few bits and there's Bury fans everywhere.
They're all congregating outside the pubs and are singing songs about being on a "European Tour" and taking photos of the local architecture on their phones.
One approached me and tried shaking my hand, saying "Me from Bury (whilst pointing at himself.) We like your country - people very friendly, very nice."
Then he toddled off to Poundland to buy some souvenirs to take home.
I think they're taking this seriously.

That is my holy relic, what do you think Richard the Lion Heart would do if Saladin had decorated his true cross with rose petals ?
