THIS summer’s change round at Wanderers has left Dougie Freedman content his squad are now finally all singing from the same hymn sheet.
The Whites boss hinted at issues behind the scenes during last season’s spells of poor form, and has overseen a huge turnover of playing staff in his 21 months in charge.
More than 20 players have left the squad he inherited from Owen Coyle, and speaking after Tuesday’s 2-0 victory over Rochdale, Freedman revealed he is now happy with the balance in the dressing room.
“At last I have got a good, honest group of players,” he said.
“They want to work hard for each other and pull in the right direction.
“There are no agendas, just to work for the football club.
“We need to keep adding a little bit more to that, and then we’ll have a team that is heading in the right direction.”
The major flaw in Freedman’s squad appears to be the lack of attacking cover, although goalscoring cameos from Conor Wilkinson and Zach Clough in the last two games have been a timely reminder of the talent coming through the ranks.
Nevertheless, the manager remains confident of bringing in more signings before the start of the Championship season.
“We know what we’re looking for.
“I have to keep certain things private but it doesn’t take a lot to work out where we need to be strengthened,” he added.
“Fans know I won’t be lying down, I’ve got one or two things that I’m very confident we can work on.”
