Those pictures are truly shocking.
Another flawed genius with an all too evident knack for self-destruction.
Real shame.

surely someone needs to step in and do something? Why don't the PFA with all their cash help him out in some way like getting him back into rehab before it's too late

He's been on this path for a long time now. I fear it can only end one way.

He's now going the way George Best did.boltonbonce wrote:He's been on this path for a long time now. I fear it can only end one way.
He has had too many opportunities to sort this out as he has been in rehab numerous times, very sad!

I have absolutely no sympathy.
He's had pots of cash, a steady line of people trying to help him, and still he fucks his life up.
Save your sympathy for someone who deserves it.

How many people have tried helping him? Its like he doesn't want the help.
Sad to see him now though.

Very sad, but as others have said and if you take all emotion out of it he's clearly never going to be able to help himself and it will only end one way.

He looks twenty years older than he actually is. Shame, that.

Alcoholism is an illness and Gazza is deeply afflicted. He has had far more help than your average wino in the street but he is unable to get his act together.
People are incapable of rising above the limitations of their own character and personality, and Gazza is a prime example.

Everything is an illness with you people. Are rapists suffering from an illness? Are murderers ill?
No one makes you drink yourself silly.

It's an addiction whichever way you look at it. Just being an alcoholic does not entitle you to financial
benefits under current incapacity/invalidity DWP guidelines. However, if you are diagnosed as having cirhossis of the liver as a result of alcohol abuse then you are deemed suitable for benefits.
Whenever I read about Gazza I am always reminded of the song by Smokey Robinson, ' The tears of a clown'.

Well meaning people have been throwing money at Gazza for years,in a misguided effort to save him from himself, and it simply hasn't worked. Unlike most,he's had access to the finest rehab clinics in this country and abroad, yet the cycle continues unabated.
The fact is he can't or won't change, and will probably end his life in a similar manor to George Best.
As a sad, pathetic old drunk, much to the chagrin of the popular press, who will be losing gossip column gold.

I wouldn't mind spending a night or two in some of the ' manors ' that Georgie and Gazza have spent some of their time in.

I think you are right BB- but the really sad thing is that he's a relatively young drunk who should live to see his grand kids grow up.. but I guess now he's beyond redemption. Strange how fame can really f*** up everything for you

Sorry Boncey, I knew it was an inadvertent typo but I couldn't resist!
As for Gazza, whenever I read about his erratic behaviour this is another song that sums him up. Wonderful lyrics penned by the legendary songwriter that is James Steinman, and sung so eloquently by Marvin Lee Aday. It sums everything up so succinctly. I wish I could write stuff like this.

He used to drink whisky sometimes before Burnley games in his brief spell with us.
What's that you say? You have to be hammered to want to play for Burnley.
The problem with Gascoigne has always been that he's a child trapped in a man's body.

I met the guy quite a few years ago in the Algarve and unfortunately he was an accident waiting to happen even then, a damn shame but as with Best the natural talent bestowed on them to play football doesnt always equate to a person able to handle both enormous wealth at an early age but the inevitable hangers on that new found wealth attracts.
