Dougie Freedman admits he needs help to get Wanderers’ campaign back on track.

With less than a week remaining in the transfer window, the Scot faces the prospect of having to sell players before he buys the attacking reinforcements he feels will help get the club out of its current Championship funk.

Reports suggest he may have to create his own cash. Jay Spearing has been linked with Aston Villa, Mark Davies with Burnley and Adam Bogdan with Fulham in the last few days.

Sources within the club say no contact has been made about any of the trio – but that Wanderers would have to listen to sensible offers if they are to buy themselves some financial breathing room to bring new players in under the watchful eye of Financial Fair Play.

Pressure continued to build on Freedman’s shoulders after his side were pushed all the way by League One’s bottom club Crewe in the second round of the Capital One Cup.

Darren Pratley equalised a Bradden Inam effort for the Railwaymen but just as Jermaine Beckford looked to have bailed them out with an injury time winner, Marcus Haber headed an equaliser seven minutes into stoppage time.

It was Beckford again who struck early in the second half of extra time to seal a place in round three.

The display did little to change the grave concerns Freedman has over the lack of goals and creativity in his front line.

“Fans know it, I know it, you guys know it, of course we need new blood in there,” he told The Bolton News.

“But the simple fact is that our finances are tighter than they are at other clubs and so we can’t go out and buy them.

“I’m trying to keep on top of what I can and it’s definitely frustrating because we definitely need some freshness in there.”

“There are a couple of players who maybe don’t give us what we need – so we do need two or three attacking players.”

He's had all Summer to get players in, but with less than a week left of the transfer window he suddenly realises we have a shit squad.

Genius.

So, after fucking about for weeks, the plan is...

Sell ALL our best players, try to replace them with cheaper, shitter ones and STILL try to avoid dropping in to league one?

What planet to these people live on? you cant suck money out of a shit team and expect it to get better, regardless of anything else - you simply cant.

Anyway, even if freedman sells any players, you can guarantee Gartside will probably lie to DF again not let him spend a penny when it comes to it.
