WANDERERS were one of only three Championship clubs who did not pay a transfer fee in the summer window, research from The Bolton News has uncovered.

The massive gaps between the “haves” and the “have nots” in the second tier were emphasised with some of the massive fees flying round in the division in the last few months.

Fulham shelled out £11million for Leeds United’s Ross McCormack, Nottingham Forest invested £5m in Britt Assombalonga from Peterborough United and Cardiff spent £5m on Bruno Manga from Lorient.

Wanderers’ only cash investments were nominal fees for development squad players, approximating around £20,000 in total.

But focusing on first-team affairs, and given that loan fees for the likes of Joe Mason and Kevin McNaughton have not been declared, they appear to have made a profit this summer thanks to the sales of Marvin Sordell to Burnley and Cian Bolger to Southend United.

Watford and Ipswich were the only other two clubs who spent nothing on permanent transfers, while at the opposite end of the scale, Cardiff City invested a whopping £14.9million on new players.

The Welsh club also raked in the most money, with the £10million sale of Gary Medel helping them bring in £24.9m.

Wigan Athletic actually made the biggest net spend of £3million, offset by the £7m sale of James McArthur to Crystal Palace on transfer deadline day.

Only seven clubs posted a loss in the transfer market on permanent deals, with a further two breaking even, according to the survey which was released yesterday after being compiled since the window closed at the beginning of the week.

Blackpool were the busiest club, releasing an incredible 36 players during the summer and then re-signing 17 up to and including transfer deadline day.

Bournemouth made the fewest changes to their squad, signing four players and releasing four players at the Goldsands Stadium.

Don't you know Maths is not her forte.
I had posted that America the good old USA incarcerated 2.23 million people of their population at any one time, compared to the UK who in fact incarcerate more of their population than anyone in Europe. However we had at anyone time 80-000 people incarcerated. I said you do the maths.
The dopey mare said don't you think it's probably Becuase they have more people?
At the last census in 2012 there were 312 million as in the Uk there are about 60 million people.

Simple division of 2.23 million in to 320million(added 8 million) for growth = 1 person in 143 is incarcerated at any one time compared to 80-000 in to 60 million is 1person in 750 that roughly means that you are more than 5 times likely to go to jail in the LAND OF THE FREE.Nat DOH !

And about time too. The irresponsible idiots in charge have finally been forced to wake up to what an almighty mess they've made. Tough on us fans but necessary measures.

I'm afraid unless we get bought out( never going to happen) with the new 100 million pound redevelopment taking place.ED n Garslime are going to be making money no problems off this new development with houses being built as well.
BWFC will have to take a back seat.Obviously the safety off the Club is of prime importance and a lot of acquisitions have gone in to the development squad.
The lad Bastos is a Luxembourg international, the lad from Tamworth Woolery our major cash signing £10-000 quid.
Saying that if we can get Mark Davies fit and playing we might just start winning matches.
Why did he play with a broken Toe in pre season having pain killing injections yet once the season started we had to wait for his toe to heal.

I think the intention was to try n sell him,as DF said he was pencilled in for Crewe, then not even on the Subs bench at Leeds.Shady goings on in my opinion.Mark Davies is the one player on his day who can score run at players, wins penaltys.People are moaning that he is injury prone, and he has had a few knocks but hopefully he will be in the team v Sheff W and we can get our first win.

Yeah, because he's always inspiring us to victory from his position in anonymous corner.

This is why I don't think the club is gonna sack Freedman any time soon.

We were bad enough last season after he'd had a couple million to spend in the summer. We've since lost a number of players and not brought many in. Why would things suddenly take off under Freedman this season?

I think the owner has decided he wants to get expenditure under control once and for all, even if it means putting us through the worst football ever witnessed at the Reebok. And from that point of view, sticking with Freedman makes sense. He's shown that he's not got a problem showing the door to players, and because he's lucky to still have the job, he's not in a position to argue with how the club backs him.

Amazing how many people are falling into the "we can't afford to sack him" trap.

We can't afford not to sack him. There are plenty of skint clubs, I don't remember any manager riding it out because his club couldn't afford to get rid.

And if we suddenly won the lottery, would you trust Dougie with £10m to spend?

Time will tell, I'm not saying we can't afford to sack him, I'm saying he won't get sacked! There's a subtle difference which you appear unable to see?!
Whoever takes over will still be polishing the same turds, and that is the main root of the situation.

You never know what a bit of motivation and tactical know how could do for this team.

A piece of advice for you SK: never settle.

This is exactly what has been said all along.
And as also mentioned, if this is really the case, what manager would want the job of Head Puppet if Freedman was sacked?
Bottom line? These players have to do the business.

Bang on the money. We are skint and there is no money for new players.

If the Bolton job became available there would be a queue of people wanting the job.

You seem to think football people are different to other people when looking for a job. Most people go off salary and very little else.

You keep making this unsubstantiable claim.

And even if there actually was someone daft enough to apply, do you think we'd really want a manager who was thick enough to accept the job under the conditions outlined above?
