Neil Danns paid tribute to Wanderers’ determined approach in Tuesday evening’s clash with Rotherham, believing that the three points secured against the Millers were more than deserved.
With Joe Mason’s second-half hat-trick ensuring that the Whites picked up maximum points for the first time this season against the Yorkshire outfit, Danns admitted that although the players were forced to work hard for the victory, the performance is one which will stand the team in good stead ahead of their upcoming fixtures.
“It was an entertaining match for the fans, there’s no doubt about that,” explained the 31-year-old. “Of course, you’d rather close games out earlier on, but at the end of the day the three points was what we needed and we got them.
“The gaffer touched on it at the weekend about the spirit and how we’ve got to keep going until the very end - everyone could see that in this game.”
He continued: “That is what the boys have got in their locker – we know we’ve got the quality on our day and it felt like for most parts of the game that we dominated it.
“It’s definitely a big improvement for us and the boys are buzzing right now – you can feel the confidence in the dressing room and hopefully we can kick on from here.”
