.......get a re-brand and become "Drones".......?

Drone is quite a serious word and carries certain sinister connotations.

ie, The ones used by the military carry missiles and can be used to blow shit up, in addition to their more mundane role as intelligence gatherers.

The one in this story is little more than a nerd toy.

Why have they been glammed up all of a sudden?

Just fashionable to pretend to be hard. Used to be called UAVs (unmanned aerial vehicles) but TBF a drone does sound more sinister unless you are talking about a worker bee or ant whence the name was derived.

The kerfuffle about the Etihad is typical CAA stuff though. They are so paranoid about our airspace these days.

I don't know why the MEN are droning on about this incident and conveniently forgetting that they were flying their own contraption over Manchester only last week.

The MEN drone could just as easily have fallen onto the public below so why weren't plod getting worked up about that one as well?

Let's be honest, this story in the MEN is just a cheap attempt to piggyback on what happened last week during the Serbia / Albania match.

And let's not forget that the real story there was the fact that they started knocking seven shades out of each other on the pitch.

It's like "devil dog" stories.

You don't hear anything for ages, then some unfortunate kid gets eaten by a poodle and suddenly, you can't move for similar stories in the press.

Then it all goes quiet again.

I was wondering, taking into account the larger flying objects, such as aircraft, jets, hot air balloons, and 'blimps', have provisions been made for them not to fly over stadiums, and large groups of people, because it may be dangerous. ? If the likes of Amazon(?) are looking to deliver parcels using these drones, I think the reaction was over the top, no pun intended Smile
