Didn't wear a poppy last night and took a lot of abuse for it... does he deserve that though? Considering where he's from and the atrocity of Bloody Sunday in 1972 is it any wonder he feels wearing a poppy would betray his people at home?

i suppose he has a valid reason, but that doesn't excuse his general thuggishness and nastiness on a football pitch

The idea behind wearing a poppy is to remember those who have fallen in all wars on all sides.

It's not a nationalistic thing but a lot of people mistake it for one.

At the end of the day, it's all about personal choice but when you start bullying people into acting in a certain way because you personally think they should agree with your stance, that's a potentially dangerous state of affairs.

It's his choice.

For what it's worth, my thoughts are that his explanation is a bit "wishy washy" and it leaves me thinking that he's a dumb kid who's been brainwashed with "anti-Brit" rhetoric by those around him, whilst growing up.

It's all a bit distasteful and he's made himself look like a bit of a cock in my view.
