I think it is more fascinating to see if David Millar is picked for the cycling team.
Once again the cycling story is just like a soap opera - this is the background to this one -
Road race cycling (not 'track' cycling that the likes of Chris Hoy are famous for) is contrary to popular belief more about teamwork rather than the individual.
Our most famous rider at the moment is Mark Cavendish - who is probably still the fast sprinter in the world - and likely favourite for the road race individual gold.
If he is in the leading group with a few hundred meters to go he is likely to win the race BUT the race is over many miles and he needs his team mates to pace him to the front when it matters and chase down various breakaways throughout the period of the race.
Millar is one of the best in the world for judging the race and was the GB team captain when Cavendish won his world title recently.
Cavendish certainly wants Millar in the team but this is where the fun starts!
The next most famous British cyclist - already previous multi Olympic Gold medallist and probably favourite for this years Tour de France is Bradley Wiggins - a certainty for the GB team and a staunch supported that Millar should stay banned!
Mix into that, that there are only 5 places in the GB team and that Millar has not ridden recently due to injury, then the question must be is he worth taking a bit of a gamble on?
I would say yes myself, but the decision is down to the GB Team Director, Dave Brailsford, who happens to be a good mate of David Millar's!
Should be fun watching how this one all works out!
