This is fighting talk.

Admittedly any rapper releasing stuff post-2000 is a total wanker and should be shot. But there was a day when rappers had something to say, Public Enemy are the finest lyricists to ever grace vinyl.

Hi-Tek was still doing his thing.

This is the only rapping song I ever liked. As far as I am aware it was the first one to go mainstream and was a big hit throughout the world. It still get's me excited when I hear it nowadays. Ignore the Afro's and the Bellbottom flares. This is what I call proper rap not crap.

Check out the young Cee Lo Green from 55 seconds.

It must have taken them weeks to come up with Fight the Power - given the hundreds of 60s protest songs that covered the same ground. They were plagiarised by NWA (Fuck the Police) but it's a well-worn theme. All Public Enemy's chewns had pretty much the same one-dimensional theme but at least it was protest-driven rather than abuse-driven. They're Ok but not my thang and by no means great lyricists IMHO but they did raise awareness of modern day racial discrimination - not that we're not already aware of it.

A few decent riffs (albeit underdeveloped) and a political element, but great lyricists? Don't believe the hype Tasha.

I accept they mean more to me than others, being my favourite band and all. However, don't underestimate the effect they had on a teenage girl growing up in the Little Lever Ghetto.

Chuck D is a lyrical genius, but each to their own. Unless of course your favourite band is Steps.

I watched The Commitments for the 87th time this year last night, not because it's just that good a film, but because I'm hooked on the music.

This woman is stunning...

Doffcocker, I've always believed you to be a young chap, it's clear you're about 50 judging by your music tastes.

The sort of music in The Commitments isn't anything like my usual taste.

Most music I like is the sort of stuff most of the elderly would be disgusted to hear called 'music'.

Rammstein - Pussy (uncensored version - be warned VERY sexually explicit and only place I could find the uncensored video was on Redtube - I repeat VERY sexually explicit and is the true uncensored video)

What the fucks happening to the Gibb brothers are they cursed or what? Just heard Robins new song- Dont cry alone, love it but the guy is in a coma and it seems he,s not going to make it. Big Bee Gee fan (not the disco era) The harmonies were fabulous now it looks like there will be one lone voice.
