Ken Anderson is putting the finishing touches to the deal which will see him become majority owner of Bolton Wanderers Football Club.

The Bolton News understands Dean Holdsworth has now signed the paperwork which confirms Anderson’s Inner Circle Investments Ltd assume control of Sports Shield BWFC, the company created when the pair bought the club from Eddie Davies last March.

Wanderers announced an agreement had been reached last month with a statement which confirmed former striker Holdsworth will be retained as an ambassador.

It is expected he will resign as a director of Sports Shield BWFC soon after the deal is completed.

Meanwhile, on the pitch Wanderers are preparing for their most important game of the season at Oldham Athletic this Saturday lunchtime.

A sell-out 4,300 Bolton fans will be making the short trip to Boundary Park, the club’s biggest away following since the FA Cup game at Liverpool in 2015.

Tickets are also fast selling out for the final away game of the campaign at Port Vale after going on open sale to supporters yesterday.

Dorian Dervite reckons the huge away followings Wanderers have commanded in League One have been a huge motivational factor in the club’s success.

“It helps us on the pitch a lot – when you see how much people care and how they’ve travelled hundreds of miles and paid lots of money, it makes you want to make them happy,” said the Frenchman. “It motivates you as you want to reward them for their loyalty.”

Though there are several permutations in which Wanderers could gain automatic promotion the most simple is that they win two of their remaining four games.

Oldham have proved a tough nut to crack for many of the top six clubs, many of whom have struggled against their physical style.

Dervite told the club the dressing room was confident they could see their promotion push over the line.

”Physically we are one of the strongest teams in the league and I think a few people have noticed that,” he said. “We cannot let our standards slip – we have to keep that mentality in the team and also the same positive atmosphere.”
