Didn't get there until 2.50 due to traffic problems, but was rewarded with a much improved performance.
How Madine didn't put a third goal away to kill the game off I'll never know.
A long way to go,but a straw to clutch at,at last.

Great game and a deserved win, we may just make a fist of it yet. Great to see Sammy back. I think Vela and Henry both added to a much better midfield and that allowed all the team to perform. well done lads.

Biggie wrote:What an exciting game... Chances, drama, shots cleared off the line at both ends, Keepers making saves, Madine hitting the post, penalties denied and and 101 minutes of football.

Glad I turned up today. Commiserations dad for deciding to stay at home.
Wasn't it just great? Very Happy But when they scored I felt my heart sinking into my boots and the last ten minutes especially did nothing good for my blood pressure. I don't know about you biggie but stoppage time seemed to last forever and I'm just about out of fingernails tonight. God I thought the ref was NEVER going to blow full time and when he finally did I was a wreck. affraid

Still, it was just fantastic to see us win and the journey home was a breeze. I'm still grinning from ear to ear. cheers

Made me feel ancient.

Best performance for 3 years.

Madine was absolutely immense, I can't remember a better performance from a BWFC player in years. Shame he can't hit an open goal from a yard. The bellend.

Vela ran them ragged, Henry was a calming influence in midfield, the full-backs supported well when they could.

It was a great victory but it was despite Parky rather than because of him. Bannon was given the freedom of Bolton, if Parky can't see something so fucking obvious he needs to be potted while we're still in with a slim chance of survival. He should have had Ameobi off at half-time, that guy could get injured lying in bed. Why he took Armstrong off before Ameobi I'll never know.

Every credit to the players who all gave 100%, but Parky still needs to go.

Could have won that game 6-1 with fifteen minutes to go. Felt like a promotion party at the final whistle with a lap of honour thrown in. Every credit to a great team effort. We really pressed them high up the park. An energised midfield in front of an improving and confident defence was great to see.
If teams like Sheff Weds are our level, we might be in with a chance of staying in this league.
The season starts now.

It was great to see everyone stay to cheer and clap as though we had won the league at the end...

And yes stoppage time was just over 9 minutes in the second half because Rhodes went down injured for 3 minutes in the 6 that were added.

Good win, however I'm not getting carried away. Probably back down to earth with a bang next week.

A good post then you have to spoil it. Your downer on Ameobe is quite laughable. Armstrong or Ameobe please tell me your taking the piss.

QPR...?

Those soft arses........?

We will own them and this will be our soundtrack as we steamroller over their sad, dejected arses.

Ameobi played well until he went down towards the end of the first half when the last defender took him out. It was clear he was struggling after that. He should have been withdrawn at half time. He isn't the sort of player who runs things off.

He did nothing in the second half and was clearly struggling, so to take Armstrong off before him was ridiculous.

Spot on, Ameobi didn't look right after that tackle and when I saw Morais get off the bench was surprised that Ameobi didn't go off.

Also noticed Vela had an Ice pack strapped to his Ankle at the end of the game as he walked around applauding the fans, hopefully just precautionary.

Ok i accept that he took the knocks and looked like he was struggling, but after the second tackle he tracked back to win the ball in front of the East stand. And left to a standing ovation.

Armstrong for me continues to disappoint, he floated a couple of great free kicks into the box even though it was his best game we need to see a bit more.

He left Ameobe on because he produces something different and is unpredictable, but took him off due to lack of match fitness.

Vela having to play with injections was a worry especially as we have nobody else with his quality and the engine to cover the ground as he did. With Pratley and Henry behind him we actually seem to be competitive in the middle but needing injections doesn't bode well for him having a consistent run in the team for the rest of the season - which we'll need if we are to have any chance of clawing back the points we are trailing 21st place.

There was some irony in the BN announcing prior to the game that Madine had had more shots on target than any other Championship player and then when he finally gets what is virtually an open goal he misses. Still it's indicative that when Vela plays our attacking unit has more happening when we get forward - which would better suit ALF's game.

Madine continues to disappoint in front of goal. The header he put wide from the free kick in the first half was as bad as the open goal he missed in the second. If Vela continues to play in front of the midfield, ALF is the obvious choice for up front.
