Following on from the stats I posted last week, if we look at our last 14 games which won us 20 points - and coincided with us Anderson getting the embargo lifted and bringing in a defensive defender in Henry (we didn't have one in the squad since Spearing left) and allowing him a couple of games to settle into the side - we are positioned 10th on current form

That is just one place below Sheffield United (9th) on goal difference - with Preston on the same points as us both (11th).

Millwall are 13th, three points behind, with Barnsley(21st), Hull (22nd), Burton (23rd) and Birmingham (24th) brining up the last four places all with 12 points.

Considering the masses are after Parkinson's head for not being able do better than the likes of Sheffield United and Millwall who came up with us and that they think Burton must be playing better than us because they beat us recently - are plainly wrong and just underlines once again my post of last week that since we finally signed a defensive midfield player and allowed him two games to settle into the team (and with Vela and Ameobi returning from injury) that we have since been playing football and collecting the required points to finish comfortably mid-table this season.

That is of course if we don't panic and sack the manager - see Birmingham since sacking Gary Rowett this time last year!

Stats here -

NOTE - the fourteen games covers the three months from the beginning of October to today's result - suggesting a long and solid run of results rather than a kneejerk sack the manager relegation form because Wolves (1st in the current form table with 35 points) put five past us or that we lost at home to Burton.

More stato bullshit.

We're second from bottom. That is not "doing fine". If you really think second bottom is fine then I suggest you take a good hard look at yourself. Failure is the new success for some of you.

Third from bottom*

Good post Sluffy, although I’m not sure id describe our situation as doing fine, we’ve certainly found a way of getting results in this league though. The worry is we don’t keep up with the teams around us come January.

There's no difference between second and third from bottom. We'll end up in League 1 either way.

I'm sure if you went back to the Coyle season we got relegated you could isolate some results that gave us a top 8 place.

KA can't afford to sack anyone... other than non-performing players.  Nice to see a change in formation and line-up... keep players on their toes... perhaps what KA was trying to convey to the team.  Start the year with a win against Hull and we all may feel just a wee bit better.  The loss to Burton and the losses with no shots on target and the points thrown away in the final 15 minutes are the bitter pills to understand and accept.  A few of those points would have us closer to midtable.  It has been a remarkable comeback from the first 11 games... where we were on target for 8.5 points for the season... and today we are on target for over 40.  We still have a mountain to climb, but the mountain has not moved away from us!

Not arguing with you, I just think it’s pretty obvious how good a job Parkinson is doing given the total lack of resource.

I’m (a bit) surprised there are so many fans who don’t share that view.

The Point of the post is, IF we continue on the same trajectory as this post shows then we will finish up in the championship next year, in other words despite PP not having a clue (Fans in most media posts) He as actually found a way of getting points on the board. It's awful to watch but after the worst start possible we are competitive.

If we can ship out the dead wood, Chris Taylor, Darby, Osede and Dervite. Keep the better players (i say this loosely)and bring in say three good Championship players then we have a real chance.

We were cut adrift in September dead in the water, we are now in touch with the bottom 7, anyone who thinks that's not progress without spending a a penny wants their head examining.

Just out of interest, and because I keep reading that Anderson can't afford to sack Parkinson, who has seen the contract and knows the amount that Parkinson is entitled to if given the chop?

What's the number, please?

I think a lot of fans (who go to games) feel ripped off due to the dire football on offer. Let's be honest, we've been hoofing it in most of the games - you accept it when we win (i.e. against Cardiff, where it was still utter shite for 75 minutes) but feel like topping yourself when you have to sit through games like the Burton one.

And, sadly, there have been more games like the Burton one than the Cardiff one.

I don't think it's a big number - Ken employed him so he's not going to be handing over £500k if we sack him. It's probably 50p and a bag of grapes.

Anderson is no mug. He knew full well that he would most likely have to sack Parkinson at some point (unless he got lucky and sold up) and there's no way on earth he drew up a contract with a big payout.

My belief is that he could be rid of Parkinson any time he likes. His big challenge is finding a replacement who can guarantee better results with the squad we have. Difficult.

Anyone have realistic suggestions? Please don't say Ryan Giggs.

With some fresh legs in and Madine still on board, I think Parkinson can get us out of the bottom 3 by February. Our 2017 results, roughly split down the middle, showed considerable improvement.

Games 1-12:
W

Games 13-25:
W W W W

With continued improvement our January fixtures don't seem too daunting:
Hull City (H)
Brentford (A)
Ipswich Town (H)
Cardiff City (A)

I'm fairly sure that Parkinson is on a one year rolling contract - which seems to be the norm with managers these days (in the lower leagues anyway).

We were in the embargo when he was appointed and I read that the maximum we could pay players under it was £10,000 per week.

It doesn't seem an unreasonable assumption to think Anderson was given the same - and hence the reported rumours of him being on £500,000 a year would make a lot of sense.

Also don't forget if a manager his sacked, quite often the coaches he brought in and works with also have to go as the new manager wants to bring in the people he wants to work with instead.

I don't think it unrealistic to assume it would probably cost a million plus to replace Parkinson and his coaches, with a new manager and his support staff.

Finally I doubt very much we would pay compensation for a replacement manager, so that whoever replaced Parkinson would probably be out of a job at the time when we did.

Parkinson is doing a fantastic job anyway since he was finally given a defensive midfielder for the team. His record since then (over the last completed three months remember) is as good as anyone could possibly have expected is better of ALL the clubs in the league below Brentford (over the last 14 games)!

Spend some cash, get your backside down to the Macron, watch a few games in the freezing cold. Then come back to us and say he's doing fantastically well.

Every game looks the same when you're watching it on Soccer Saturday. Why on earth would the armchair fans care about entertainment?

I did say a fantastic job - not an entertaining one.

Needs must I guess - football sadly is all about money since Sky and the Premier League came into it.

Entertaining fans is secondary to grinding out points to owners I guess.

High prices for fans to pay for an unentertaining product - I tip my hat to you and every other single fan that goes to games these days - I really do.

Parky's job is to entertain the paying fan. The only way fans will come back is if the entertainment is worth £25 for 90 minutes, and we're winning more than we lose.

It's ridiculous of Ken to keep banging on about the missing fans when the entertainment factor is so low. A football club is no different than your favourite restaurant or brothel. If that establishment started giving out shit food or shit shags you'd take your wallet/knob elsewhere.

The football has been dire and yes we won yesterday but again, like last season he only changed formation when he felt he had no other option.
That for me is the big problem as he is so set in his ways and during games he doesn't do enough to change games if we need to, he only ever makes like for like changes.
If he does keep us up then yes he desreves all the plaudits that will come his way but as a season ticker holder i have to say the hoofball gets right on my nerves and does put casual supporters off.

I'll take hoofball this season if it keeps us up but he needs to be more positive if he wants to win the fans over.
