Wanderers’ catastrophic late-season form sunk to another low in defeat against Wolves – but Phil Parkinson insists his team can still survive the drop.

Swept aside 4-0 by the champions at the Macron Stadium, results elsewhere in the relegation race compounded a miserable weekend for the Whites.

Wins for Burton Albion and Birmingham City mean Bolton could be plunged back in the bottom three if Barnsley beat Nottingham Forest at the City Ground on Tuesday night.

Parkinson’s men have two games to save themselves – at Burton next weekend, followed by a home clash with Nottingham Forest on the final day of the season. But so pressing has their need for points become, Wanderers may need to win BOTH games in order to avoid following Sunderland into League One.

Burton condemned Sunderland to the drop with an injury time winner at the Stadium of Light – effectively making Saturday’s game a sudden death affair.

Parkinson is keen to keep focus on preparation but insists his players are good enough to haul themselves away from the danger zone.

“We can only look at what we can do from here,” he told The Bolton News. “We have two games to save our season and we’ve got to try and win both of them. Hopefully that is enough.

“I still think we have got a good chance. Yes, when you are on a run like we have been on, and then get beat like that at home, people can get down. It’s human nature.

“But from Monday morning onwards the preparation has got to be right, we have got to be professional and all eyes have got to be on that game against Burton Albion.

“I firmly believe we are capable of going down there and getting the points.

“They will be up after getting the result against Sunderland, I know that, but we have got enough to go and get a result and finish the season in style against Nottingham Forest.

“People will be writing us off. We have had that this season, last season, and we have responded. We have to do everything we can.”

Deluded idiot, it's now out of our hands, we are relying on other's slipping up. How about actually putting out a team that wants to win a game rather than the usual lets not get beat?

A pound coin was thrown onto the pitch on Saturday.
Police are trying to discover if it was a missile,or a takeover bid.
