WANDERERS (4-2-3-1).

MATT GILKS… 6.

Although his penalty box came under plenty of pressure, Gilks only had to make one first-half save with his feet thanks largely to some solid defending in front of him.

GETHIN JONES…6.5.

Steady on his return to the side, his experience shining through at the end when Stevenage were peppering the Bolton box with crosses.

RICARDO SANTOS…8.5.

Got his head on everything defensively and had a couple of decent chances at the other end, too. This is the standard, right there.

ALEX BAPTISTE…8.

The veteran has put together a few very good performances and was in the right place at the right time for virtually the whole game. Nearly grabbed a sensational goal.

DECLAN JOHN…7.

Took his goal superbly and defended well. Still feeling his way to full fitness but an encouraging first 90 minutes for Wanderers.

MJ WILLIAMS…6.

The red card looked a tad harsh. To that point Williams had been the defensive anchor in midfield and put himself about, if not always immaculate in possession.

GEORGE THOMASON…7.

Worked hard against the ball, which is an area of his game that is vastly improved. Rewarded with a contract this week – and maturing well.

DAPO AFOLAYAN…6.

Looked dangerous when he had space in front of him and explored every inch of the pitch. Looks like a real find.

NATHAN DELFOUNESO…6.

Some good exchanges in the first half and seemed much more involved when playing centrally compared to the left. Drifted out of the game before going off.

MARCUS MADDISON…6.

A few lovely touches and deliveries into the box but, equally, a lot of stuff that didn’t come off. Evatt will want more from him, no doubt.

EOIN DOYLE…5.5.

Had a few decent chances by his book to extend his 12 goal haul. Won’t let it affect him, though, and you can get he’ll be on the end of more chances at Mansfield.

Subs: Gnahoua 5, 60 (for Delfouneso) – Couldn’t find a breakthrough.

Isgrove 5, 64 (for Maddison) – Struggled to get into game.

Tutte 81 (for Afolayan) Kept things tight at the end.

Not used: Comley, Miller, Elbouzedi, Jackson.

Stevenage (4-4-2): Stockdale, Wildin, Vancooten, Prosser, Coker; List, Pett, Lines, Aitchison; Newton, Norris.

Subs: Stevens 57 (for Newton), Hutton 76 (for Wildin), Roles 86 (for Aitchison).

Not used: Vincelot, Cuthbert, Johnson, Smith.

Referee: Trevor Kettle – 2/10 - Issued a red card in milliseconds and no angle of the incident we have seen thus far, nor anecdotal evidence from coaching or playing staff seem to back up his view. Hard not to take this sort of thing personally.
