Since being brought back into the team, he's been a breath of fresh air, but is that because he's a genuinely good left back or because we've not had a relatively competent left back for a long time and we suddenly feel spoiled to finally have one that has a reasonable idea of what they're doing?

I'm reserving judgement for a while.

Robinson is rubbish, a League 1 defender at best.

Ricketts is better, but I still don't hate him very highly.

I'm not sure he's a great left back, but he's definitely an excellent defender.

he does the simple things right, most of the time. The oposite of Robbo.

We looked better with him as a centre back pairing with Knight - than the current England centre back did with him!

He seems to have a bit of pace too - which seems to have been lacking at the back since, oh I don't know when - Pedersen / Gardner days?

Seems to read the game well too.

All big pluses considering what we have had playing at the back over the last few years (Cahill included!).

I'll hold my hands up when we first signed Ricketts I wasn't too sure but I believe he is the best full back on either flank that we have at the moment.

I feel a lot more secure with him on the left and Gretski at right back.

Ricketts is not a left back. His best position is centre-half or right back.

He has shown his versatility by playing left back and he has more pace than Robbo.

I would prefer him at right back or centre half but at the moment he is the best left back we have got.
