'We could have drawn' - Rotherham boss Paul Warne on Wanderers victory 13343907

Rotherham boss Paul Warne says he feels like a “lucky manager” following his side’s win against Wanderers.

Michael Smith scored either side of half-time as the Millers returned to the top of the League One table.

Eoin Doyle was on target for the Whites, who were unable to find an equaliser despite creating several good chances.

And Warne admits Ian Evatt’s men could have easily got something from the game on another day.

“I stand here as a lucky manager because we could have drawn,” said the Rotherham chief.

“I did feel like it was an absolute banana skin. We didn’t have great management in the last five minutes and they could have taken a point off us.

“I didn’t think we were at our best but we were up against a really good Bolton team. I know they have come through their problems but they were desperate to play.

“I thought the first half was pretty even. I was disappointed with the goal we conceded. Second half, I thought we were really good, a bit more like us.

“Obviously we got the lead but the last two minutes we could have drawn it or lost it. But we managed to win it.

“Smith got two good goals – I thought the second was excellent. It was a great bit of football.”

The result leaves Wanderers 16th in the table - six points above the drop zone.

Evatt's men are back in action on Tuesday night when they take on Hartlepool United in the Papa John's Trophy (KO 7pm).
