Decent result after I thought we had lost it!

I can't yet work Dougie out tactically. Some really bizarre decisions over the five matches, today's wackiest arguably being the placement of Afobe on the left wing, though this faces stiff competition from the inclusion of Pratley.

That said, it takes a broad mind and a pair of bollocks to drop a goalscorer from the previous game. He's at least an improvement on Coyle in that respect.

Crystal ball now firmly tucked away with only minor adjustment required - they don't make Levi's like they used to.

Realistically, a draw was all we could expect at Brighton as so far there's no sign of DF turning this squad into a strong team. He doesn't seem to think that the youngsters are ready or good enough - which removes one potential path to improvement, but at least he's trying different systems rather than flogging the same dead horse as OC seemed to.

Not signing any loanees indicated he's determined to make it work with what we have. He may make us competitive eventually, but from a fans' perspective, it's not a particularly exciting way of going about it. I suppose going narrow and tightening up the back is a start, but we'll need something special going forward if we're going to effectively play with one less forward than we have been doing.

Whilst this work is in progress, we're slipping further off the pace so barring miracles and enlightenment we shouldn't expect too much for the time being.

I'm not one for knee-jerk reactions but this game is as depressing as any under Coyle.

I didn't go so I won't comment on individual performances, but reading the Nuts live commentary and one or two reports from around the net, it seems we were outplayed for much of the game and if it wasn't for the woodwork and Bogdan we could have been on the end of a thrashing.

Freedman's team selection is ridiculous. Afobe on the wing, Ream recalled for the umpteenth time, and Spearing dropped. And the bench is equally laughable - Sordell and Petrov might not deserve a starting place but they MUST be on the bench....you have to have attacking players in reserve.

Freedman hasn't played the same team twice, in fact I don't think he's played the same tactics twice. It's as though he just picks names out of a hat. He needs to pick what he thinks is his best team and stick with it for a few games.

Right now I'd rather have Coyle in the hotseat, and I never thought I'd say that.

I cannot believe more people are not seething after that performance. The same game might have resulted in a 5-0 loss today but you all seem not too fussed!

We have to give Dougie some time. He has only been in the hot seat a matter of weeks. He didn't set the world on fire at Palace in his first season but look at where they were this season when he left them to join us. Unbeaten in five games is something that NEVER happened under Coyle.

He is looking at all his options and the best way to do that is play them. Isn't that what new managers do ?

Name me one successful new manager who picked a different side every week, played players out of position before he'd seen them in their natural position, and kept picking the same shit defenders who have the worst record in the country over the past 12 months.

We'd of lost most of Dougie's games with Coyle in charge.

He needs time, I know a lot of people think you're on the wind up, but to anybody who seriously does feel as negatively about Freedman as this, you need to get real.

He's been in charge a matter of weeks, it's impossible to judge a manager yet, hopefully he gets some money to bring in a few players in January because we need a CB, DM and a ST minimum really if we want to see an improvement in results.

His selections are a little strange but hopefully this is just him trying to find a team that works, Coyle made the same mistakes most weeks so I think this is positive considering our lack lustre performances, he clearly isn't too impressed with what he's seen so he's experimenting.
