Major World Events that stick in your Mind???

Can think of quite a few but the one that sticks out for me, although only 12 at the was.

The Cuban Missile Crisis.

Being kids we thought WW3 was going to break out, must admit to being frightened at the time.

21st July, 1969 - A small step!

A day i remember too, was my 19th on the 20th of July.

9/11 for me.

but going back to the moon landing i genuinely hope I'm alive to see a man land on Mars.

John Lennon being murdered
Falklands War I
Space Shuttle disaster - I was watching Newsround whilst having a bowl of soup at the time.
Iraq War I
Diana being "killed" in a car accident in Paris
Manchester bombing 1996 (biggest bomb on mainland UK since WW2)

A bigger shock for me was Ali knocking Foreman out in the rumble in the jungle. I never saw that one coming.

In terms of sporting events, the tragedies at Heysel, Bradford and Hillsborough plus Jock Stein passing away live on TV.

The Nigel Benn v Gerald McClellan war, Eubank v Watson, Lupe Pintor v Johny Owen which all ended in tragedy.

Ayrton Senna and the fatal Formula 1 car crash.

Great sporting moments tinged with terrible tragedy.

I remember watching her that day on TV when she exposed Twickenham to the Twins!.

I remember where I was when I heard JFK had been shot and that Jimi Hendrix had died but can't remember the dates.

Princess Di I mainly remember for a televised Bolton game being postponed and the pathetic hysteria and conspiracy theories it generated.
