Bristol City away on Saturday is undoubtedly a "must win" game. Lose and our play-off chances will probably be gone.

But Bolton teams of recent years just don't win these "must win" games. The surrender at Stoke when we were relegated last season is a prime example. You'd have thought it was a pre-season friendly the way the second half was played. The team had no bottle and no fight.

The last couple of "must win" games I can remember us actually winning were the final day 2-1 victory over Middlesbrough at the Reebok which kept us up in 2003, and the 4-1 thrashing of Ipswich in 2002, also at the Reebok, when a Bobic hat-trick all but relegated one of our rivals.

Can you think of any more recent ones?

Saturday v Wolves is the most recent "must-win" game that springs to mind.

Stoke at Wembley was a must win game. It didn't go so well!

I agree that our form in must win games has not been good but I think we can win at Bristol.

Both of the must win games we won were when we had BSA managing us. Now we have Dougie and that is why we have a chance. Under Coyle there was no way we were ever going to win must win games because he was completely clueless as a manager. Megson wasn't exactly a motivator either. Mangers can and do make a difference.

And no I can't think of more recent ones either.

I don't think we have ever played a game where someone hasn't said it was a must win.

Bristol isn't a must win game, its not even close.

It's a must win game to me, that's all that matters.

If you want to start a thread titled "Not Must Win Games" then be my guest.
