Monster Tornado Sweeps Toward Major US CIty

A massive tornado has touched down near Oklahoma City, part of a series of severe storms that have taken lives in two states.

Monday's mid-day twister, measuring an estimated half-mile wide, came just a day after two people were confirmed killed by a tornado nearby.

Residents of the suburb of Moore were urged to take shelter as the funnel cloud moved through the area. Radar images suggested the storm could move into the capital city.

Witnesses said the tornado was tearing a path through the area, leaving buildings and homes destroyed in its wake.

KFOR-TV's live footage showed the monster twister and the flashes of power lines blowing.

The state legislature in Oklahoma City cancelled its afternoon session so lawmakers and staffers could take shelter.

Looks really bad for those folks. You folks in Bolton should consider yourselves lucky if all you have to complain about is a bit of rain. I'm still cleaning up and repairing damage from Hurricane Sandy last year.
