Defender Cian Bolger heads for loan spell at Colchester United

Young Wanderers defender Cian Bolger has today joined League One side Colchester United on a month-long loan.

The 21-year-old is yet to figure for the Whites' first team since his move from Leciester in January but has been a regular captain for Jamie Fullarton's Under-21 development team.

The Republic of Ireland U21 international will go straight into the U's squad for Saturday's home game against high-flying Peterborough United.

I still have big hopes for this lad, still he's 21 now so should be pushing for a starting spot - but we have 4 CBs and Knight and Wheater will be ahead of him in the pecking order.

If he's 21 and nowhere near the first team then he's never going to make it.

Nah, any manager worth his salt would have 11 academy youngsters in the team by now ripping up the league and being tapped up by barca.

At 21 he should be there or there abouts for the first team. Maybe this loan is to get him match fit, before giving him a run out. (lets be honest, no payers seem to be fit enough for DF)
