Joe Mason has returned to parent club Cardiff City after his loan deal with Bolton Wanderers expired.

The 22-year-old striker’s deal was set to expire after the weekend’s game with Blackpool, however, as part of the initial loan deal he is ineligible to play in cup competitions.

As a result Mason has now reported back to Cardiff City.

He made a total of seven appearances for Bolton, scoring one goal.

Bolton Wanderers would like to thank Joe for his contributions and wish him well for the future.

I said he'd struggle as a lone striker from the start and was proven right.

He gave 100% and has some ability but isn't cut out for the way the game is played at Bolton.

Good luck to him.

Played alongside another striker with the ball played to his feet and he may be a decent player but what did dougie expect him to do with balls launched down his fecking throaght.

Okay prospect, but too "lightweight" for Dougie's much prefered lone striker role. His wages will be better off spent elsewhere.
