I do love a good cheese and onion pasty from Greenhalgh's every now and again, the flaky ones.

In fact there is nothing better than a meat and potato pasty on a barm with some salad cream!

I do love a good meat Hollands pie as well.

Due to texture etc I do prefer puff pastry than a pie crust.

Do you lot prefer a pasty or a pie?

I used to get heartburn after eating any pastry products. I have since given up smoking and now ony very rarely get any heartburn at all.

By the way I prefer pies. Used to love a good greenhalghs meat and potatoe, they had a bit if spiciness if I remember correctly.

Maybe they put more pepper in than others?

I've been round their factory in Horwich and believe me, I wouldn't even feed them to my dog after seeing it.....

Pies hold more filling but pasties fit great on a barmy.

Is it really that bad?

I do have one question you might be able to help me with!

Coming off St Peter's Way joining the M61 sometimes I smell pies (The meat variety), do you know who the culprit is?

Here is a really odd fact about Greenhalgh's. I like their traditional flat pasties because the pastry isn't flaky and over abundant. You can buy the traditional pasty in virtually any Greenhalgh bakery shop.... but not Lancaster! They claim nobody shows any interest in them so they don't sell them there. Bizarre..or what?

I like Greggs flaky pasties, but a nice meat and potato pie takes some beating. When I lived near Stoke, there was a local brand (can't remember the name), that haven't been bettered. Also liked the oatcakes from there as well.

Tomato sauce and a few slices of bread for me - can't stand mushy peas.

Karly, a girl that I used to work with, she told me about a lad that she knew and he used to make the mixture for the cheese & onion pasties at Greenhalgh's and he used to tell everyone that he used to always grob in the mixture. I think he's still working there now.
