With our lucky stoppage time winner against Huddersfield last Saturday, we play away to Doncaster Rovers on Tuesday (8th April) at 7:45pm.

Our reverse fixture at the Reebok Stadium was Bolton 3-0 Docaster with Mason, Moritz and Danns all scoring to take the 3 points.

Doncaster are currently sitting in 19th position with 43 points, just 5 points behind Bolton.

Doncaster Rovers' last 4 results are:

  • 1-3 loss at home to Birmingham City
  • 1-2 win away at Leeds United
  • 2-0 loss away to Burnley
  • 1-0 win at home against Sheffield Wednesday

How do you all think we will do?

Do you think we will be able to do the double over Donny?

DRFC were the poorest team to visit the Reebok Stadium this season by a country mile IMO, we should win this in first gear, but hey, who knows what new and imaginative way Dumb fuck might conjure up to confound everyone!!!!!!!!!

There's a pattern in their results, win loss win loss... They're a due a win.

Most likely result 1-1

It's so difficult to predict. We don't know what team or formation DF will send out (as it's an away game I'm guessing he'll start with one striker as per usual for away matches) and equally we don't know which Donny will turn up - they've been great and dire in equal proportions this season.
Given their league position I suspect that Donny will have a real go at us.
My guess would be a draw but in truth I've no idea.

it will be like Huddersfield deja vu, we will play far too negatively and scab a late winner. I suppose i should be happy if we win again but it's just all so dull again watching us at the moment

I was really disappointed with the starting line up on Saturday, and whilst keeping a clean sheet and nicking the game with good substitutions is positive I think we need to be experimenting more to prepare for next season. Hall needs to be starting again on Saturday for me as I can't see us keeping Mason next season, otherwise I'd advocate 442. Hall in for Trotter would be my change.

Ref watch: Sutton takes the whistle

Gary Sutton will oversee Wanderers’ midweek Sky Bet Championship clash with Doncaster Rovers.

An experienced official with over 12 seasons of professional refereeing to his name, Lincolnshire based Sutton has taken charge of 26 games so far this term across the Championship, League One and League Two.

Having brandished 78 yellow and six red cards during the course of the current season, he last took the whistle in a Bolton game when the Whites visited Middlesbrough back in October 2012.

Paul Cook and David Richardson will run the line, while David Benton is the fourth official.

We'll lose. Dougie will excuse his shit team and tactics as preparations for next season.

I predict I will be asleep long before the final whistle.

Boring, boring Bolton.

Opposition watch: Doncaster Rovers

After dramatically winning promotion to the Championship as League One champions last year, Doncaster Rovers will be eager to rake up the points in the final weeks of the season as they look to avoid making an immediate return to the third tier of English football.

Currently placed 19th in the Sky Bet Championship league table, seven points clear of the relegation zone with six games remaining, Rovers’ survival is yet to be confirmed ahead of a testing final run-in.

Trips to Ipswich Town, Reading and Premier League-bound Leicester City await Doncaster, while they also have to host promotion-chasing Derby County and fellow strugglers Millwall before the end of the season.

The team’s home form in particular however has been crucial to keeping them clear of the drop zone in recent weeks. Before last weekend, Dickov’s side had gone eight league matches without defeat at the Keepmoat Stadium, with their last home reversal coming against Ipswich Town on Boxing Day.

However, Saturday’s defeat to Birmingham City, a side also fighting for their status as a Championship club, threw Doncaster right back into the relegation mix.

Eager to bounce back against Wanderers, Dickov will hope their loss against the Blues will prove to be just a blip as they look increase the gap between themselves and the bottom three.

With limited clashes between the two sides, Doncaster have tasted victory against Bolton just three times in the club’s history – all three coming back in the 80s.

In contrast the Whites have won six, including both meetings since the start of the 21st century without even conceding a goal, while there has only ever been one stalemate between the two sides.

Wanderers were actually the first ever side to inflict defeat on Doncaster at their Keepmoat Stadium home, when goals from Kevin Davies, Idan Tal and an Andranik Teymourian brace secured a 4-0 FA Cup third round win in January 2007.

Joe Mason, Andre Moritz and Neil Danns were on the scoresheet the last time the two sides met back in December when Dougie Freedman’s side ran out 3-0 winners.

One man the Whites back-line will need to be wary of if they are to keep up their recent good form against Doncaster is Southampton loanee Billy Sharp.

Since returning to the Keepmoat Stadium on loan in January, the forward has found the back of the net four times in 11 appearances and remains one of the Championship’s most feared marksmen.

At the other end of the field goalkeeper Sam Johnstone has performed admirably since joining on loan from Manchester United, while Australian international Lucas Neill has added some much needed experience to Doncaster’s defence.

With three points a must for both sides, Tuesday night’s clash under the Keepmoat Stadium floodlights has all the makings of a classic.

the season is a dead-rubber now.

Tension off the players, tension to win off freedman...

hopefully he has the bottle to test some young guns, if we lose, we lose.

at least we get to see what they are like and if they are worth keeping.

Agree with that I think he should be experimenting now, see who could be ready for next season.

Unfortunately it doesn't look like he will, he's probably more concerned with finishing as high up the league as possible to try and cover what's been a poor season.
