Liam Trotter's goal against Sheffield Wednesday has been voted as Wanderers' goal of the season by the club's supporters.

The midfielder's 35-yard effort against the Owls scooped the gong with an impressive 43% of votes submitted, with Lukas Jutkiewicz's strike against Bournemouth securing second place with 36%.

Jay Spearing's long range strike in the Whites' 4-0 victory over Blackburn Rovers ensured him third place with 11%.

The right decision, surely.

I've said this before and I swear I'm not just saying it to be anti-Trotter or controversial, but I don't rate that goal as being that special.

It was a classic leg-swinger.

It sat up nicely on the volley and he just put his foot through it.

A decent strike, fair enough, but I think the fact it garnered 43% of the popular vote says more about our lack of quality in front of goal last season than anything else....

Agreed.

It might be our best goal seeing as we hardly scored a bundle of crackers.

But it sat up nicely and the keeper was way too far off his line.

Put it this way, it wasn't half the goal of my famous 1994 Deepdale volley*.

* scored with a broken ankle

It wasn't even the best goal in the match!

Wednesday's was far better - seriously.

Young Jamie Thomas' efforts for the youth team were better.
