Tim Ream called for Wanderers to not dwell on Saturday’s defeat to Wolverhampton Wanderers – a result which the defender believes was harsh given the Whites’ efforts during the clash.

Nouha Dicko’s header put Wolves ahead just before the interval, while Owen Garvan saw a second-half penalty saved by keeper Carl Ikeme as Bolton were left to rue missed opportunities at the final whistle.

And although Ream believed the Trotters could take a number of positives out of the match, he admitted it proved to be little consolation on what was ultimately a frustrating day for Dougie Freedman’s side.

“We can take the positives out of the match but there is only so many times you can say that in a season,” said Ream. “With the chances that we created and the solidity we showed defensively for the majority, it is a bitter pill to swallow coming away with nothing from the game.

“Football is a cruel game and you don’t get what you deserve most of the time. We need to be more clinical but you can’t put all the onus on the guys up front.

“It was a fluke play at the back which seemed to punch us more than some of the other good plays that other teams make.

The American continued: “For whatever reason in the last two games we’ve given up a goal just before half-time yet we’ve come out of the second half all cylinders firing.

“We really went for it in the final half-hour. We pushed them hard and created a lot of chances today. Ultimately on another day we put those chances away.

“I think we deserved to come away with something but at the end of the day it wasn’t to be.”
