God knows how much those clowns Lee, Megson, Coyle and Freedman spent since Allardyce left but can you actually think of anyone they brought in (free or for a transfer fee) who actually were any good?

Ok Cahill yes... but - we cocked up big time on getting anything like is true worth when we sold him - for instance Jolean Lescott was sold for £22 million, we sold Cahill for £7 million after buying him for £5 million!!!

We didn't even make a clear £2 million on him because Villa had a selling on clause on him.

From what I recall all we made on him was spent on getting Tim Ream - makes you cry when you think of it that way.

Holden was good but only when he was fit.  If you divide the games he's played into the money we've paid him in nearly 5 years, he must one of our worst ever value for money buys.

Mark Davies is in the same boat too.

Tim Ream was our player of the year last season but let's face it, we still don't know what his best position is yet - should he play in midfield perhaps - because he certainly isn't a left back and the only time he shone at centre back was alongside Zat Knight - even I could look good besides Knight(mare) - great buy Gary - thank you.

As for Elmander - I understand with fee and wages we spent over £15 million on him and did not get even a penny back on him - fantastic business Mr Gartside (hard to believe we are actually £165 million in debt - isn't it?)

Muamba - of course I felt sorry for him but he cost too much and we never were going to get anything like what we paid for him until the insurance paid up.

Spearing - why did we bother?

Baptise, Andrews, Sordell - so good we pay other clubs to play for them!

Pratley - a five year contrat - oh of course another Coyle mastersteoke.

Beckford - as lethal as being savaged by a sheep.

Even some of the players names should have given us a clue not to buy them such as £4 million David N'good from Liverpool and Sammy Lee master signing Daniel Baadun (We've already done the Knight(mare joke!).

Bogdan doesn't even play now (for fear people will remember all the games he's been shite in rather than those few he was good in) before we sell him in the January window (Lee signing if you are wondering why his name appears here).

Another Lee signing was McCann - we got more value for money from hearing the judges opinion on our glorious Chairman, than anything the 'badger' ever did on the pitch for us.

As for the youth from our much vaunted academy - as any of them ever broke through at the club this decade?

So come on then, who as been our best signing since Allardyce left to spend more time with his family (who must have lived up in Newcastle, quite close to St James Park!

Lets be having you then?

(See what I did there with our next match coming up)

You certainly get value for your money on this article - nore than the club as done on the players we've had dince Sam's time anyway!

I don't think Gavin Mccaan was that bad.

CYL was a good signing before he broke his leg, seems to be finding a bit of form now, just in time for his contract to expire.

Lonergan has been a decent buy. Best I can do to be honest!

Tinned Toms - You know it makes sense!

Oh shit! How depressing. I can't think of one single player worth a mention. All the decent players we've had have been on loan, wilshere and Sturridge spring to mind but no one permanent. I'm quite interested to see if anyone can name a good un. I bet they can't.

Ermmmm.....well we've got.....nope apart from Cahill I don't have anyone.

I think Alonso would have turned into a quality player if he hadn't gone to the bright lights of Fiorentina.

The only true goal scorer we've had since Anelka left is Klasnic, he could guarantee goals.

So Klasnic.

Both club and player probably regret Klasnic leaving BWFC.

If he'd had the chances Beckford's had these last 14 months or so he'd have scored 30+ goals.

Having spent the last two years selling every player earning more than the cleaner it was never going to be easy to compile a list of great signings from recent memory.
I thought Sam Ricketts was a good signing.

Great summary Sluffy which sums up why we are in a mess now.

Holden had the most quality but after his first injury we have seen so little of him. And if you eliminate Mark Davies for the same reason and Cahill because of cost factors I think Ricketts and Lonergan are probably the best value signings along with maybe Danns.

And there was another good loan signing in Dawson.

Not much to pick from I'll grant you.

Klasnic & Lee are about it for me. Rickets always did a job for us and Steiny was solid.

Believe it or not Wheater was Boro's best player when we signed him. Being touted as a possible England call up at the time.  Injuries and our crack managers have done him in though.

Cahill had periods where he was great, and periods where his head clearly wasn't in it.
Our form actually improved after he'd been sold - he was dire in the first half of that season - although there are other factors there I admit.
He must have cost us a fortune over the years. His initial salary will have been very decent, given the number of other PL clubs after him at the time, not to mention numerous pay rises he'll have had out of the belief that he would eventually make us a tidy profit.

To be fair to the managers since Allardyce, it's not all their fault that none of these players can be seen as great signings.

So that amounts to just short of £50 million in KNOWN transfer fees - a load more in UNDISCLOSED transfer fees - and a shed load of players signed!

Surely between the four clowns they could have signed (free or fee) at least ONE good signing - surely?

Christ just think of how much in wages the above shower of shite as cost us!!!

No wonder we are fucked as a club.

Klasnic was a bargain if we got him for nowt.

Mark Connelly for £1m from Wolves? I couldn't even tell you who Mark Connelly is.

And did we really pay £650k for Tamir Cohen? Bellends.

That's more than we've spent on transfer fees in our entire history.

£650k was worth it when he scored in the last min against Arsenal at the now Macron to win the game, ''Wengers face hahahaha'' the game after we got drummed 5-0 at Wembley against Stoke.

A lot of expensive crap signings but Connolly has to be the worst (apart from giving Pratley a five year contract). £1m and he never even made a first team appearance and couldn't even make it at Crawley and is now playing for Kilmarnock.

Riga was rubbish.

Muamba was a good player but 5 million was obviously too much, he was a tackler and not much more.

with hindsight people like Matt Taylor and Sam Ricketts actually were some of our better pick ups.
