Conor Wilkinson scored one and created another as Oldham Athletic triumphed 2-1 over Swindon Town at Boundary Park on Tuesday night.
The Republic of Ireland Under-21s international crossed for Mike Jones to side-foot home the opener in the tenth minute before taking advantage of a defensive error to double the Latics’ lead seconds later.
However, Wilkinson was forced off through injury in the 16th minute with Rhys Murphy coming on in his place.
In the Championship, Alex Baptiste and Jay Spearing both featured for Blackburn Rovers as they secured a late 2-1 victory over Rotherham United at Ewood Park.
Spearing completed the full 90 minutes, picking up a booking early in the second half, while Baptiste replaced the injured Jason Lowe in the 20th minute as Jordan Rhodes scored a late winner to secure all three points for Rovers.
Elsewhere in the division, Niall Maher came on for the injured Charles Dunne in the 49th minute as Blackpool fell to late defeat against league leaders Middlesbrough at Bloomfield Road.
Meanwhile in League One, Hayden White and Kaiyne Woolery were both unused substitutes as Notts County won 1-0 away at Leyton Orient.
