Neil Lennon says he has been delighted with Eidur Gudjohnsen’s contribution since bringing the Icelander back to the club.
Gudjohnsen penned a short-term deal for the remainder of the season in December, almost 15 years after initially leaving Bolton.
And, now aged 36, he has since gone on to feature in all but one of Bolton’s competitive games.
Lennon said: “Eidur has scored three goals in his last seven games now and is making a real all-round contribution to the team.
“He took his goal against Fulham wonderfully well. It’s no surprise to anyone when you see the way he controls the ball and then finishes beyond the goalkeeper.
“He’s playing really well at this moment and is an important player both on and off the pitch for us.
“A lot of people talk about his age, but he’s looking really strong at the moment even when playing midweek and weekend games.
“Of course having him playing two and three times in a week isn’t ideal. We’d like to play him week to week, but due to the injuries we’ve had we haven’t been able to do that.”
