I told you he wouldn't post again.

Your arse-licking was wasted.

We should use my telescope - it's the bollocks!

We'd round 'em all up in about five minutes.

Although the dog did run off with one of my Barlow lenses last night and I think he buried it somewhere.

How are the youth of Warrington getting on with your old one?

Had any feedback?

They were going to use it this morning to project the partial eclipse, but it was too cloudy.
Pity really, the whole of their class plus teacher was there. And me.
One of the bastards suggested I should have bought a reflector! Much lighter.
He'll learn.
Nice to see them so enthusiastic though.

Good stuff.

It's great to see kids looking through a telescope and then stepping back and saying "Wow!"

Restores your faith in humanity a bit.

Not sure how you'd sight a telescope on the Sun though.....

Shut your eyes and point? Very Happy

I always managed it. Used to count sun spots.

Is it any wonder I was a chick magnet.
Other nutters are logging off in droves.

Never risked it meself - never trusted the filters and I was always too cheap to spend decent money.

99.99% safe say the manufacturers.

The 0.01% is still there though, isn't it?

Plan for failure, evaluate the risks, decide against it and retain your ability to see.

That's my M.O.

I'll just look at the Moon.

Very wise.
Don't even need a telescope to appreciate the night sky.
If I live to be a hundred I'll never tire of looking up and seeing the milky way. Seeing it out in the country, with no light pollution,is always a joy to me.
Simple pleasures.

Spot on!

And that's why we do it.

It costs nowt, anybody can do it and it makes you go "Whoa....!"

Linking to another thread on here tonight, I get my sense of spirituality from that.

Orville and Wilbur lit the fuse in 1903.

A little less than 70 years later, we'd put a man on the moon.

And who knows where we'll be in another hundred years?

Just a shame we won't be around to see it.

But I take solace from the fact that there are enough kids growing up now who have got the bug and will continue to push the boundaries and make it happen.

Int space brilliant?
