Wanderers are set to welcome back three senior players to the fold for tomorrow night’s trip to Blackburn Rovers.

Goalkeeper Andy Lonergan returned to training yesterday after missing the last three games with concussion, while experienced strikers Craig Davies and Emile Heskey are also in line for a return to the squad at Ewood Park.

Davies has been sidelined since January with a hamstring problem while Heskey sat out last week’s home draw against Reading.

But boss Neil Lennon revealed both are available for the short trip to Rovers along with Lonergan.

It is a timely boost for the Northern Irishman having lost the trio of Zach Clough, Kevin McNaughton and David Wheater in the first half of the last outing against the Royals.

Lennon said: “What I’m looking for is hopefully getting some players back.

“Craig Davies played an hour on Friday in a bounce game against Burnley so he’s back in the squad which is a timely boost.

“We are hoping Emile will be fit for the game as well.

“Lonners should be fit and back for tomorrow.

“He was suffering a few headaches last week but he was okay on Friday.

“You can’t take any chances with a head injury.

“You just don’t know with these things.

“Thankfully we have given him enough time now and he’s recovered fully.”

Lennon will also have loan signing Giles Coke available and hopes Crystal Palace defender Paddy McCarthy will rubber-stamp his switch to the Macron Stadium in time to be available.

But the boss is not expecting to add any more names to his group of nine loan players now at the club.

And he has dismissed speculation of a move for young Chelsea and former Celtic striker Islam Feruz who was linked last week.

Lennon added: “There is nothing in that with Islam Feruz.

“I don’t think I will bring any more players in on loan – we have enough as it is.”

A "bounce game" against Burnley?

Is that a behind closed doors game during a playing break to keep players in match fitness? Wonder how we went on....
