From a Rovers’ perspective, the main problem might be that we have one eye looking towards the real derby next weekend, and don’t pay enough attention to Bolton.

Burnley will always be the big one for us Blackburn fans.

We’re both similar sized towns, very parochial, with that industrial heritage. And up until fairly recently we’ve always been operating at the same level.

There is just something about the Bolton derby that has never quite fizzed for me as a supporter.

Whether it is the string of dull draws we seemed to go though at one point, I don’t know, but I always feel like we should look forward to the game more than we actually do.

It always ends up being somewhat of a non event.

My over-riding memory of a Blackburn-Bolton game is the one where you beat us at Ewood Park with Steve Kean, pictured, in charge, which sparked all the protests. After that, they all blend into one.

This is obviously an important game in terms of the season, though. Bolton have been struggling at the bottom end of the table for the most part and will want to get out of trouble quickly but Blackburn still have ambitions to make the play-offs and they definitely won’t want to go into the Burnley game on the back of a defeat.

Bolton are probably second in the list of local rivals for Blackburn, although there has always something with Preston that has been pretty strong.

Frank Worthington scored the goal that put us in the old Div 1 against the blue and white dingles. This guy has a short memory if he can only remember from Steve Kean forward.

Go back a long way with this derby  although it doesn't mean the same as it used to.

Just another 3 points or at least 1, needed.
