Bolton Wanderers have completed the loan signing of Paddy McCarthy from Crystal Palace.
The defender signs on loan from the Eagles until the end of the current season.
A former Republic of Ireland youth international, McCarthy started his youth career with Manchester City, enjoying loan stints with Boston United and Notts County before signing for Leicester City in March 2005.
Named Foxes club captain at the start of the 2006/07 season, he left the club the following year to sign for Charlton Athletic before joining Crystal Palace 12 months later.
Handed the Eagles armband in 2010, McCarthy was a virtual ever-present for Palace over the next two seasons before injury forced him to miss their entire 2012/13 promotion-winning campaign.
Having found his first team opportunities at Selhurst Park limited in recent seasons, McCarthy spent two months on loan with Sheffield United earlier in the season – making 11 appearances and scoring one goal during his time at Bramall Lane.
