The wonderful "Street Hassle" by Lou Reed. An awesome single released in 1978 and lasting over 11 minutes. Strangely enough it never made it onto TOTP.

How weird is that - an Englishman posting Brushy One String and a Jamaican posting RATM.

For me this stuff betters anything the Stones or the fabs did. Strictly my opinion of course.
It's such a pity his head went awol.

This beatles / stones thing has got me delving into the past.
Anybody remember the Bolton band Iron Maiden? They were a top local band who played regularly at BIT and many road college. I can only remember one of the songs they played, Zappa's Willie the Pimp.
Anybody go to the FTH and Hardrock in Manchester and Belle Vue.
I remember Neil Young being on at Belle Vue one Saturday. Wanderers were at home and half the lads went to BV and half to Wanderers. I went to Burnden and learned later that he played his new album in it's entirety, Tonight's The Night, pissing the crowd off! Support was the newly formed Eagles.

Another Bolton band who I seemed to see everywhere locally at the time were called Gravy Train.

Quintessence is a big blast from the past. I wonder if the Guaranga that appeared on motorway bridges was done by Quintessence fans?
I saw Gravy Train at BIT a couple of times and at Bolton School around 70/71. They actually recorded an album on the newly formed Vertigo record label at that time.
Family were a great band who didn't always cut it in the studio. Only went to BV once and saw Yes at the time of the release of Close to the Edge. It was a rum place with loads of support columns.
There's loads of stuff on the net about Hardrock in Stretford which is now a B&Q. Went the first night in September 72 and Bowie was on. He didnt come on stage till midnight and me and my mate walked it home to Bolton. The support that night was a band called Iguana with a little known lead vocalist called Iggy Pop. Happy days.

I've also wondered about those signs on motorway bridges SK. I was also present at the Gravy Train gig at Bolton School.

Thanks for that KP. I thought it had spiritual links because of a song that Quintessence did back in the 70's. HP was obviously of the same mind.
Cant believe I was into their stuff then after watching that, but they put a good gig on the couple of times I saw them.

Quintessence were excellent in concert in them days SK. The only problem was you couldn't get rid of the smell of Joss sticks off your clothes for weeks.
