ADAM Bogdan will be handed the number one jersey for the rest of the season as Wanderers fight to keep him at the Macron.
The Hungary international is now fit again after an ankle problem but has been kept out of the reckoning since his return by Ben Amos, whose form since arriving from Manchester United has won him plenty of fans at Bolton.
Now with Amos’ loan deal due to expire on April 7, Neil Lennon says he will give Bogdan a chance in the coming weeks as the club continue to try and tie him down to a new contract.
“I want to get him up to speed as quickly as possible,” he told The Bolton News. “Ben’s loan runs out pretty soon and Adam’s fit enough now. He’s ready to play between now and the end of the season.
“I want to give him some games. He’s been called up by Hungary this week and another game certainly won’t do him any harm.”
Lennon’s declaration places big doubts over the future of Andy Lonergan, who has been Wanderers’ first choice for much of the campaign.
Furthermore, the Whites boss refuses to rule out a move for Amos in the summer, with his contract at United coming to an end.
The Reds keeper is available on a free transfer but would command a high salary, which means it could be a choice between him and Bogdan in the summer.
Regardless of whether he returns to the club next season, Lennon has praised Amos for the impact he has made at the club.
“He’s been beneficial for us, he’s made us better, and I think it has worked for Ben too,” he said. “You can see by his body language that he has enjoyed his time here and he’s done better than I expected, better than I could have hoped.”
Amos had not played competitively for over a year before being thrust into first-team action at Nottingham Forest in February after Lonergan received concussion.
And Lennon admits his form at Wanderers is likely to give the 24-year-old plenty of options in the summer.
“I was surprised he hadn’t played for so long,” he said. “I knew his name but didn’t know much about him.
“We did a wee bit of work on him before he came in but Manchester United have been very good to us in the loan market with him and Saidy Janko.
“He has certainly enhanced his reputation and the fact he’s out of contract as well, this has really put him in the shop window.
“I’m sure there will be potential suitors for him and we may be one of them.”

What the hell is going on?
We don't play Bogdan for some reason we don't know about - even though he is named on the bench.
We don't hold contract talks with him - one of our last 'big' earners.
Now we say we want him?
Sounds to me that all we are doing is saving a few weeks loan money for Amos!
Can anybody come up with a better explanation?
