Has he just finished feasting on a small child?Copper Dragon wrote:My dog had a bit of a fall t'other day so we had to take him to the vet.
His back legs are knackered and he now is too scared to go uphill after his fall. It's a bit of a bugger because we live on a hill and every where you go around here you've to go uphill.
Here he is in his prime.......

I like that one Boggers.
It was his squeaky boot toy and very annoying it was too.

Copper must go round abducting children and feeding them to his dog, I knew he was a weirdo.

It's a tradition in Burnley.
Like cheese rolling in Gloucestershire.

At least half of the hills are down hill mate.
Shame for your dog, you may have to move somewhere flat!

Breadman wrote:You can tell the weather's improving - suddenly you can't move for people you've never seen before walking (and struggling to control) their dogs.
I take ours out twice or three times a day, 7 days a week, 52 weeks of the year (minus holidays), irrespective of inclement weather, hangovers and random acts of God.
You get to know the other regular dog walkers you will meet on your route and the dogs all know each other and are fine together.
But then the sun comes out.......
And so do the "It's a sunny day so I'll take Rover out" lot.
You can spot these people a mile off, generally because they haven't got a fucking clue about dog ownership.
Rover's going mental because he's spent four months couped up in the back garden and is suddenly free, so he's doing his best "Lee Evans on speed" act and the owners can't cope because they're too thick to see what's going on.
So they try and use this innate lack of understanding of their dog's behaviour to justify why they don't take them out more often - "He's always like this on the lead. I think he's a bit stupid lol"
No he's not, it's you, you prick.
Perhaps if you put your TV remote control down once in a while, stuck your coat on and ventured out with him more than just the current three times a year when it's sunny, he wouldn't be so mental.
Wankers, the lot of 'em.
Rant over.
Yes Bread, I point this fact out often. The amount of dogs I see out when it's sunny amazes me and it disappoints me that most of these dogs must hardly ever get out.
Nation of dog lovers supposedly. Loving is different to owning.

Mine's coming up to 16 years old now.
You get a football out and still he acts like a puppy, he just doesn't move like one.

Mine started to slow down on walks so we took him to the vet and it was Lymphoma, he had a radical course of chemo for about six months, he got better but they said it would come back with a vengence in maybe three months but we got a year out of him in good health then it hit so we hit back with a strong course again cost about seven grand in all but he'd had enough and we all said goodbye at home the vets loved him and pampered him they were almost as upset as us they gave me a photo frame with his name on it. We had a proper funeral service and they laid him out at a chapel for the family before he was cremated then we spread his ashes by the sea where he loved to go, a lot of people would say all that for a dog but he was one of my kids and better than a lot of people out there.

Is there even such a thing as a part time dog walker?
I didn't even know there was such a thing as a part time dog until you told me.
Unusual and somewhat niche career choice.

An absolutely heartbreaking thing to do but you did the right thing CD.
We have had to do this on a couple of occasions and it is really upsetting.
As Breadders says, keep your chin up.

Sorry for you loss. It's the hardest thing to do, but sometimes it's kinder.
Just took my dog for a walk and he came running out the bushes with a hedgehog dangling from his mouth, the worst thing it could do was roll into a ball because my dog kept throwing it in the air. Then he dropped it at my feet and expected me to throw it for him.
