I've been hearing the same interview with some bloke (with a plum in his mouth from London) all day on various media about how the people whose safety deposit boxes got turned over recently are all "heartbroken and ruined" and other such overly emotional gubbins.

But do you have any sympathy for them?
When addressing the issue of insurance cover, it came to light that a lot of the stuff taken wasn't insured.
But surely, I hear you cry, the safety deposit box place must have its own insurance?
Not so, it turns out.
It appears that a big selling point for using a safety deposit box company, is the fact that it's cheaper than insuring your own stuff and keeping it under your bed.
So what happens is, the safety deposit box company say "If you're too cheap to insure your own stuff, come and stick it in our vault. It won't be insured, so there's a risk you may lose everything in the highly unlikely eventuality that we get robbed, but that's never going to happen, is it and it's still cheaper than insuring it yourself. Come on.... Take a punt with us!"
And so they did.
And now they've lost everything.
Any sympathy.....?
