January isn't the time to spend unless you are one of the big hitters. It's silly season.
We clearly didn't do enough in the summer, even though £6 million wasn't enough for Deeney, £4 million wasn't enough for Lansbury, £4 million wasn't enough for McArthur and £2 million wasn't enough for Bryson.
We tried getting them in but we were never going to pay over the odds.
This is what happened after the Burnley interest...
Leicester were rejected at £10 milllion for Deeney (well done Watford), Lansbury signed a new contract which no doubt made him the highest paid player at Forest, McArthur went to Palace for a club record £7 million and Bryson signed a lucrative 5 year deal at Derby (and he's been crap ever since).
I'm glad that we didn't go there.
